IYFR promotes the formation of fleets throughout the world to bring together Rotarians that share a common interest in boats. Fleets work almost like a regular Rotary club. They have their own commodores, vice and rear commodores as well as other officers. This allows the fleet to organize and sponsor boat/water oriented social and public service activities.
The San Francisco fleet supports and encompasses Rotarians from three Rotary Districts, 5150, 5160 and 5170. These are basically those clubs that abut San Francisco Bay and the Suisun delta area as well as the inland areas of those districts. But we are open to any Rotarian and we have members from Lake Tahoe to Lake Shasta and down to Monterey.
But IYFR fellowship is not limited to only large, bay boats. Some members will have large sail boats (if you are interested, don't forget that these boats need crews!), others have both sail and power boats of varying sizes ranging down to small vessels designed primarily for lake fishing. Some members don't even have any boat. The common bond is not the ownership of a boat but the common interest in boating.
How do I join? It couldn't be easier. Click on this link to download an Adobe Acrobat copy of our application form, fill it in, attach your check and mail it off to the address on the form! You'll be enjoying the camaraderie of the Rotarian boating community before you know it.
